Our history

À the meeting of the winegrowers of the Alaux family

The family structure is important in the history of wine estates. This spirit of growth and prosperity over the generations is based on on the same model of the prestigious unions among the crowned heads.

This is the case of the Château Le Bouchat-Alaux at Pennautier. Present in the municipalities of Salsigne, Villanière and Lastours in the mountain area, the lchè-Alaux family has been cultivating vines for generations, alternating with local mining. Today, Jean-Louis is the heir to this tradition, a family know-how that can be found in each bottle sold to Jean-Louis. the vineyard shop.

His wife, Florence, from the fourth generation of independent winegrowers, comes from the plain of Pennautier at the gates of the city. from Carcassonne. His grandfather, Lucien Bousquet, originally from Lauragais, settled in 1942 on a small estate acquired by his mother, which he enlarged. His children Anne-Marie and Jean will ensure the transition.

Particularities of the estate's vineyard

The meeting of Florence and Jean-Louis will take place in 1984 in the same living environment and an activity. similar punctuated by differences in schist and calco-schist soil, in climate with Atlantic and Mediterranean influences, in grape varieties giving the wines a beautiful complexity. in mountain areas: 30 hectares in AOP Cabardès (cabernet, cot, merlot, syrah) and AOP Minervois (grenache, syrah, marsanne, roussanne, cinsault, white muscat). The chardonnay and pinot grape varieties are reserved for valley bottoms. 

In the plain, the deeper soils composed of calcareous clays are white grape varieties: chardonnay, colombard and soon in production small and large manseng.
